The Association of Sign Language Interpreters (ASLI)

The Association of Sign Language Interpreters (ASLI) is the professional association and support network for interpreters in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our membership includes Sign Language interpreters and deaf and hearing people who support us.

Our aims

Our aims are to:

  • encourage good practice in Sign Language interpreting
  • represent the interests and views of Sign Language interpreters and the Sign Language interpreting profession.
What we do

We are committed to the ongoing development of both interpreters and the profession. We are working to develop skills and raise standards, so that we can individually, and as a profession, best meet the needs of our customers.

International work

We play a leading role in both the European Forum of Sign Language Interpreters (EFSLI) and in the development of the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI).We also have links to interpreters and interpreter organisations in the America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, throughout Europe and, of course, in Scotland and Ireland.
