Unqualified co-worker
An interpreter has been booked to work at a tribunal. On arrival they find that their co-worker is not a fully registered interpreter and only has a basic BSL language qualification (Level 2 in the UK) and no other qualifications or registrations. The co-worker doesn’t think there is a problem with their level of skills.
The interpreter talks to the Chair of the meeting who suggests that if they refuse to interpret they may have to pay the costs of canceling the tribunal.
They talk to the agency who think that the co-worker's basic qualification is good enough.
