Will Witnessing

Recently I had to interpret for a Deaf man who was getting his solicitor to draw up his will. The will had to be drawn up 'contest proof' as it was pointed out that the man's brother was likely to contest the will in the future.

I as the interpreter was asked by the solicitor to witness the signing of the will, which I did. Afterwards I was also asked to make a sworn affidavit in relation to interpreting for the drawing up of the will.

The dilemma is, is it permissible for an interpreter to witness a will in these circumstances i.e. 'best interests of the service user/least harm? Or do we refuse on the basis that we have to remain impartial?
