Mouth patterns

Hi

I wonder If anyone could give me some tips on how to reduce English mouth patterns, a bad habit that I have since working with students who do not use BSL (or very little) when working as a CSW. I have tried practising to myself without using any at all and I have no problems. When I go to Deaf club and am relaxed, I fall back into my old bad habits. I would be grateful for any advice/tips.

I know I use English mouth patterns, they are more noticable when I signig with people who are more SSE, so sometimes is it necessary for us use some, so we can change our regeistar. But if anyone has any good tips it will be usesful for all!

Like Fleur says it is useful to use mouth patterns with people who use them more often. The important thing is to know when to apply it i.e. adjusting signing techniques to suit the recepter. A tip is to use more NMF's mostly facial expressions. This takes the mind away from doing mouth patterns as you are too busy 'puffing cheeks' etc. Hope this helps?

Just seen that the original message was posted two years ago. Thankfully, this didn't require immediate responses!
