I was just wondering what you guys would do if you were put in the same situation.

You are booked to co-work with an interpreter on a course. The job is very difficult, due to the amount of technical language and jargon used. It is signing from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave and therefore needs a qualified interpreter and a co-worker. The job is from 9am to 3pm.

The morning that you are due to do the job, the interpreter phones you to inform you that they are unable to come on that day, due to the weather. This means that you will be on your own, doing this job and at present, there is no-one to cover for the interpreter.

What would the other apprentices do? Would they still go to the job and do this on their own, even though it requires a registered interpreter????

Hi Jess

You would have to look at what the effects would be on yourself, the Deaf participants and the hearing involved if you didn't do it, and the same if you did go ahead and do it. Overall, I think you need to refer to the Code of Ethics and do no harm, whether that means to you or the others involved, I'm not sure

Not sure Jess,

I wonder if I was in that situation I would, maybe, arrive early and explain to the trainwer the situation and explain You will need lots of breaks. When the particpants arrive explain to them that you are on your own due to the weather, hope they are understanding.

Just an idea.
